Georgia Accidents Caused by Aggressive Truck Drivers

Aggressive drivers and road rage can be dangerous to all others on the Georgia roads. These problems are compounded when the driver who lacks professionalism and the proper temperament are behind the wheel of a tractor trailer. Professionalism as a driver requires a safety concern for others sharing the road. But the consequences can be dire when a truck driver lacks the proper professionalism or temperament.

Recently, a 26-year-old Georgia driver was run off the road by a tractor-trailer driver. The driver of the big rig admitted he blew his horn and flashed his lights at the other driver multiple times. The victim attempted to change lanes when her maintenance light went on but the truck would not allow her to merge. She slowed to see the trucking company's name on the tractor-trailer's door and the truck's driver suddenly merged into her lane. The truck's driver was arrested and charged with aggressive driving.

Though the incident did not result in an accident, aggressive driving by tractor-trailer drivers can have severe consequences. All drivers have an obligation to drive safely and predictably. However, truck drivers have a heightened responsibility in preventing accidents due to the extreme size and weight of their vehicles.

Drivers who use their vehicles to antagonize or intimidate are road hazards. Evidence that a truck driver was aggressive or distracted and that this contributed to the accident could cause the truck driver, the trucking company and its insurance carrier to be found legally responsible for a victim's injuries and damages. This may include loss of wages, medical expenses and property damage.
