Fulton County Pedestrian Accident: Elderly Woman Dragged By MARTA Bus
The Georgia pedestrian accident occurred on Sunday, May 8 around 10:30 p.m. Sixty-two-year-old Lettie Robinson got off the bus at Joseph E. Boone Boulevard and Mayson Turner Road; however, as she was exiting, she realized that she left her purse on the bus. Ms. Robinson turned around to get her purse and the bus door closed on her arm.
Her arm was still stuck in the door when the driver of the bus, 52-year-old Belinda McMillan, pulled away. According to witnesses, Ms. Robinson was dragged over 60 feet. A driver, who witnessed the senior citizen being dragged, drove in front of the bus to stop it. At that time, McMillan stopped the bus and opened the door. Ms. Robinson fell off the bus and to the ground. She rolled in front of the MARTA bus. Witnesses say McMillan drove around the victim and left the scene of the accident.
McMillan gave police another story. She told them that Ms. Robinson exited the bus and then turned back and began banging on the door. She told police that the victim, who uses a walker to get around, ran alongside the bus and tripped and fell.
Ms. Robinson was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. She was treated for a broken arm and lacerations on her head, arms, and legs.
McMillan was arrested and charged with reckless conduct. She is being held in the Fulton County Jail and has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation of the accident.
