Family and friends continue to mourn the loss of a high school senior who lost control of his car and died yesterday afternoon.
The accident blocked 75 north near the Tennessee Georgia Line for hours.
Jennifer Rogers still can't believe her good friend Tony Baughman is gone. The two met 5 years ago at church and became instant friends. Rogers says a mission trip with the church to New Orleans last summer is what brought them closer.
"He was in my group and we just worked on houses together, and he had a great heart for kids and anyone who was around him, he was always loving," says Rogers.
Baughman was killed yesterday, when he lost control of his car, and drove off Interstate 75.
Witnesses told Georgia State Patrol Troopers, that his vehicle was swerving on the Interstate and eventually hit the median and overturned several times.
Baughman's passenger, Logan Fowler was also hurt in the crash.
"It's just so unreal that something like this could happen to such a great person," says Rogers.
Last night, hundreds of students gathered at Silverdale Baptist Academy for a vigil in honor of the high school senior that many say lost his life too soon.
"We made the decision to let them come here and gather here so that we could have counselors here to pray with them and let them just be together and share their hearts and their fears and their griefs with each other," says Becky Hansard, the headmaster of Silverdale Baptist Academy.
Jennifer Rogers told us Baughman had a love for cars and sports. He was a choir member and worked closely with the youth at his church.
His outgoing personality and love for helping others are what Rogers says attracted everyone to Tony-- and what she says she'll remember most.
Baughman's funeral services have not yet been set. We're being told he had a 7th-grade sister who also attends Silverdale Baptist Academy. There's still no word yet on the cause of the accident.
