On Saturday, August 11, 2012, a fatal Atlanta auto accident occurred around 6:00 p.m. According to authorities, the crash took place on Interstate 85 near the Ga. 400 exit. Sadly, a 24-year-old Ohio woman died of the injuries she sustained in the wreck.
Atlanta police indicated that investigators are going to re-create the crash to find out what exactly happened; however, at this time they believe that the woman from Toledo, Ohio, was the front-seat passenger in a Chevrolet Tahoe that was traveling north on I-85.
Police believe that the Tahoe driver was attempting to change lanes when the crash occurred, according to Officer Kim Jones with Atlanta police. The Tahoe struck a Jeep Wrangler and then the Tahoe flipped, rolling many times before it came to a rest against the median wall.
Arianna Thompson, the 24-year-old passenger, was ejected from the Tahoe during the crash and sustained critical injuries. Police indicated that she was not wearing her seat belt. She was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital immediately following the crash for medical care.
Thompson remained in critical condition before tragically succumbing to her injuries. She died on Monday. The Atlanta police announced that the drivers of both the Jeep and Tahoe suffered minor injuries in this wreck and were also transported to the hospital for treatment.
As of now, charges are pending as the police continue their investigation and crash re-creation to learn more about this fatal wreck.
Our Atlanta personal injury lawyers at Shane Smith Law would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Arianna Thompson.
