Coweta County Three-Car Accident Injured Newnan Driver

A three-car accident in Coweta County involving five people occurred on Monday, February 11, 2013. According to the Coweta County Sheriff’s office, the crash took place on Georgia Hwy. 154 north of Georgia Hwy. 34 East around 1:00 p.m.

Although the wreck involved three cars and five people, police-reported no life-threatening injuries. One person had to be extricated following the crash.

It has been reported that 20-year-old Eric William Partain of Sharpsburg was traveling southbound in a Dodge truck and swerved to avoid hitting a U.S. Post Office delivery truck. When he did that, his truck traveled into the oncoming lane of traffic and plowed into the front of another pickup truck. According to Lieutenant John LaChance with the Coweta County Sheriff’s office, “He was driving too fast for conditions and crossed the center line and hit another truck head-on.”

Charlie Laster, 22, of Newnan, was behind the wheel of a GMC Sierra—the pickup truck that was traveling northbound and that was hit head-on. Directly behind Laster’s vehicle was 33-year-old Julia Calabro, of Newnan, in a Mazda SUV. Police stated that the collision between Partain’s and Laster’s vehicles hit Calabro’s vehicle. Although she tried to stop suddenly by slamming on her brakes, she ended up in a ditch. She was traveling with her son, one-and-a-half-year-old Henry Calabro; however, he was not injured.

The Coweta County Fire Department had to cut the roof and side doors down to get Calabro out of her vehicle. She was taken to Atlanta Medical Center for medical treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Shane Smith Law would like to wish everyone involved and injured in this Georgia crash a full and fast recovery.
