Concern Over Increase in Coweta County Motorcycle Accident Fatalities

A recent report released by the Governor’s Highway Safety Administration reveals that motorcycle deaths in Georgia have increased. This new data additionally shows that fatal motorcycle accidents in Coweta County have also spiked in 2012.

Some motorcyclists who lost their lives in Coweta County motorcycle crashes during the reported period include:

  • James Randall Morgan – An off-duty Fulton County firefighter, of Hogansville, died in a motorcycle accident on April 13, 2012, on J.D. Walton Road in Coweta County.
  • Dan Allen Duncan – A Newnan motorcyclist was killed on Old Corinth Road near Midland Drive in Coweta County on August 2, 2012.
  • Robb Holzchuh – a Sharpsburg man died in a Coweta head-on collision on U.S. Highway 29 at the Weldon Road intersection.

The Governor’s Highway Safety Administration collected the data from each state in early 2013, which indicates that these numbers are preliminary; however, numbers don’t lie. The figures reported clearly show an increase in motorcycle fatalities statewide and in Coweta County.

This report highlighting nationwide motorcycle accidents, unfortunately, shows that motorcycle deaths increased about nine percent last year and accounted for over 5,000 lives lost. Sadly, this is the 14th out of 15 years that motorcycle accident fatalities have increased. Unfortunately, many feel that the number of deadly motorcycle crashes will continue to surge because of the economy and the high prices of gasoline.

Shane Smith Law extends our deepest condolences to all of the families who have lost their loved ones in Georgia motorcycle accidents
