Recently, a woman was killed in an Atlanta pedestrian accident on Peachtree Road. According to the Georgia State Patrol, this deadly accident occurred around 2:39 a.m. early Sunday morning on August 11, 2013.
The female pedestrian was struck just north of Dresden Drive by a driver in a 2006 BMW 750i. According to reports, the pedestrian stepped into the northbound lane of Peachtree Road and was hit by the BMW and critically injured.
Although the female pedestrian was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for medical treatment of her injuries, she sadly died shortly after her arrival. She has been identified as 35-year-old Sarah Christy Gilliland, of Atlanta.
The driver who hit Gilliland has been named as 34-year-old Harvey Jerome Bellamy, of Roswell. Bellamy has not been charged in this fatal crash because troopers have indicated that Gilliland was not crossing the street in a crosswalk. However, the accident investigation is still ongoing, and alcohol has not been identified as a factor.
Gilliland may have been getting off work, as she was a bartender and assistant general manager at The Bat and Ball Pub in Brookhaven on Johnson Ferry Road. According to the pub’s corporate headquarters, Gilliland was “very well-liked and well-loved.”
Shane Smith Law would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and coworkers who are suffering from losing Sarah Christy Gilliland. We also would like to remind pedestrians to always cross the street in a crosswalk to reduce their chances of being in a Georgia pedestrian accident.
